That's an excellent question, so I reached out to the manufacturer, who told me you would not be able to convert your standard Solera power awning to the Smart Arm by adding the Replacement Controller and Touchpad # LC717666. They said you will need the conversion kit with new awning arms because the Smart Arm has different wiring than the standard power awning, allow for its functions.

We do not have an extra/replacement coax port for the SmartPlug RV TV/Internet Inlet # SM88VR, nor do we have a plastic version with 2 coax ports. However, if you already have the SmartPlug RV TV/Internet Inlet # SM58FR, you can remove one of the coax ports and switch it to the plastic SmartPlug.

They told me that it is not actually a certain miles per hour of wind that will trigger the awning closing with this kit. In regards to mounting the 63 inch Solera Smart Arm 12V Power RV Awning Conversion Kit, Lippert has told us the wall-mounted brackets require a minimum width of 2-1/2 inches for installation, but that at least a 3 inch width would be preferred.
